Ontario Trillium Foundation invests in local community groups

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is investing in 43 not-for-profit
and charitable organizations in Grand River, Thames Valley, Essex, Kent
Many of the grants announced today will help local community
organizations increase their impact and create sustainable benefits for
residents and neighbourhoods. OTF funding will be used to create more opportunities to help families
and individuals of all ages and abilities become more engaged in local
community life through access to community programs and infrastructure.
In addition to Community grants, OTF is announcing 30 Province-Wide
grants. The social and economic impact of this broad funding to larger
organizations will benefit communities across the province.

Fisherville District Lions Club
$60,000 over one year to increase opportunities for free recreational
activity for residents of Fisherville and the surrounding rural area. A
new multipurpose and accessible outdoor facility will be constructed to
provide a large covered rink for outdoor skating in the winter and an
arena for ball hockey, basketball, tennis, shuffleboard and walking at
other times of the year.
Youth & Family Resource Network of Essex County, as lead organization on
$271,600 over four years to engage a youth-strategy coordinator to
facilitate the collaborative work of the Windsor Essex Youth Strategy
Action Committee as it develops networking and learning opportunities,
supports and services for youth 16 to 24 years.
Stevenson Children's Camp Foundation
$101,100 over one year to upgrade the kitchen to meet all public health
and fire safety requirements and ensure the safety of food programs
offered to youth at risk from the London area. Renovations and new
kitchen equipment will increase community use of facility for training
and retreats and enhance the delivery of nutrition and physical
activity programs to 120 children per week.
Ontario University Athletics
$265,900 over two years to align university athletic programs with Long
Term Athlete Development models of eight provincial sport
organizations. This will ensure a more seamless sport system, and
provide enhanced opportunities for student athletes to stay in Ontario
for their post-secondary athletic experience. Funding will also support
a partnership with the Ontario Football Alliance to deliver a
grassroots program to encourage youth football across the province.
