Nissan receives two ALG Awards, debuts all-electric e-NV200 Concept Van at 2012 CIAS

From the race track to the workshop; Nissan booth demonstrates its leadership position, exceptional quality and continuous advancement in all segments -

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, for the first time in Canada, Nissan took the wraps off the all-electric e-NV200 Concept at the Canadian International Auto Show (CIAS) in Toronto. Equally innovative, but on the other end of the automotive spectrum, the 2013 Nissan GT-R which boasts numerous enhancements for the new model year, also made its Canadian debut in Toronto.

In addition to the national unveilings for near-future and concept vehicles, two of Nissan's existing products shared the spotlight today, as winners of the 2012 ALG Residual Value Awards. Nissan's Maxima was awarded the ALG Residual Value Award in the Fullsize Car category and, for the fourth consecutive year, the Nissan GT-R received the ALG Residual Value Award for Best Luxury Sports Car.

Since the ALG Residual Awards' inception in Canada four year ago, Nissan Canada Inc. (including the Infiniti family of vehicles), has received a total of 17 awards, the most out of any automotive manufacturer.

Nissan e-NV200 Concept
Additional highlights from Nissan at the 2012 CIAS include the national reveal of a model that is well poised to shake up the commercial vehicle segment in years to come - the advanced, all-electric Nissan e-NV200 Concept. Sharing its drivetrain components with the Nissan LEAF, the e-NV200 Concept provides a glimpse into a near-future production version of the van designed to provide businesses or families with flexible, roomy interior space, while payload and cargo space will offer the same level as the current, award-winning NV200.

Silent, zero emission power is supplied is by a lithium-ion battery composed of 48 compact modules and a high-response 80kW AC synchronous motor that generates 207 lb-ft of torque. Unlike a conventional internal combustion engine, the e-NV200 Concept's motor delivers 100% of its torque from start with immediate response bringing excellent acceleration and smooth, comfortable driving feel.

The Nissan e-NV200 Concept is one of several all-electric vehicles set to join the Nissan LEAF in dealerships in the coming years.

2013 Nissan GT-R
Making its regional debut is the 2013 GT-R, which returns to the Canadian market for model year 2013 with increased horsepower and torque, an additional model in the form of the well-equipped Premium Edition, and a lowered starting MSRP of $103,980.

Following a major revision just last year, the 2013 Nissan GT-R receives a number of impressive performance enhancements, reinforcing the flagship supercar's spirit of continuous advancement. Horsepower has been boosted to 545 hp (from 530 hp), with torque now rated at 463 lb-ft (from 448 lb-ft). In addition, the suspension has been retuned to enhance both performance and comfort. Other changes for the 2013 model year include a standard RearView Monitor and the Black Edition receives a new dry carbon fibre rear spoiler.
