TORONTO, June 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Moosehead Breweries Ltd. had a successful
night at the 2012 Canadian Brewing Awards this past Saturday, June 9th
in Montreal. The 10th annual version of the event honoured the
country's best brews in 39 different categories with over 550 beers
entered from over 80 competitors.
Moosehead scored multiple victories, including both a Gold for its
Cracked Canoe Premium Light Lager and a Silver for Moose Light in the
same Light Lager category; a Bronze in North American Style Lager for
its Alpine Lager; and Bronze as well for Moose Light Lime in the Fruit
Beer Category - adding to the company's previous three trophies in 2011
at the same awards ceremony.
For Matt Johnston, VP Marketing and Sales at Moosehead, this weekend's
victories confirm that the quality of beer created at Canada's oldest
independently owned brewery is worthy of the accolades. "After nearly
150 years as Canada's oldest independent brewery, it is great to still
be recognized by our peers. We believe these tie in nicely with our
new To All Things Made Well campaign in Canada: To connect with and
recognize like-minded crafts people across the country."
The Canadian Brewing Awards are Canada's only national competition that
invites breweries of all sizes from across the country to compete in a
blind tasting to see who brews the best beer. A Canadian Brewing Award
medal is a widely recognized symbol of brewing excellence in Canada. A
panel of approximately 20 Certified Beer Judges consider five criteria:
aroma, appearance, flavour, mouth-feel, and overall impression.
To All Things Made Well began with a Moosehead-branded Airstream RV travel coast-to-coast
across the country having started May 21, 2012 at the Moosehead brewing
facilities in Saint John, New Brunswick, continuing across Canada to
British Columbia, and finally returning to Toronto for the North by
Northeast festival the week of June 11, 2012. Follow the journey at facebook.com/moosehead.
