NIAGARA FALLS, ON, Oct. 25, 2013 /CNW/ - Kia Canada Inc. has presented the 2013 Best Print and Web Design awards during the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada's (AJAC's) annual Journalism Awards gala. Kia Canada was pleased to acknowledge the PRN Ignition handbook with the 2013 Best Print Design award, presented to Shaun Keenan, Group Managing Editor, Performance Publications Group. The winner of the 2013 Best Web Design award is AutoFocus.ca, presented to Antoine Joubert, Editor-in-Chief and Content Manager.
The Best Design awards, presented by Kia Canada Inc., recognize the best print publication design and online outlet design in Canadian automotive journalism. The selected winners both combine a professional design theme which is both effective and aesthetically appealing. The judging panel was comprised of industry professionals of varying design disciplines, including digital and architectural design.
"Kia is proud to be the presenting sponsor of both of the AJAC Best Print and Web Design awards. Kia's design language continues to evolve and receive acknowledgement in both the automotive and design industries, such as the all-new Kia Rondo which was recently presented the prestigious red dot product design award," said Robert Staffieri, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Kia Canada Inc. "Kia Canada feels that both PRN Ignition and AutoFocus.ca create a well-designed product as well, connecting their targeted audience in a way that deserves to be recognized."
"The PRN Ignition handbook has a very clear design structure, is clear for the user to enjoy its beautiful page layout, complete with wonderful imagery," said award judge Mark Aseltine, an architect from Halifax, NS, about the Best Print Design award winning entry. "To top it off, the typography is dead on, with emphasis where it counts and legibility throughout."
On the digital side, AutoFocus.ca was a clear winner as voted by all judges. "Autofocus.ca offers an elegant layout that allows the content to breathe, coupled with a handy always-on-screen navigation system," said award judge Ian Zamojc, a web developer.
In addition, Kia Canada recognized runner-ups at the AJAC annual Journalism Awards gala. The 2013 runner-up for Best Print Design presented by Kia Canada Inc was named to the Globe and Mail, while the runner-up award for Best Web Design was presented to Autogo.ca.
