30-Day Awareness Campaign Aims to Raise Funds for Diabetes Research
TORONTO, Nov. 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Show us your finger and share your
support! With an aim to raise money for diabetes research, JDRF has
launched its "Diabetes by Numbers" social media campaign on Facebook and Twitter to encourage Canadians to share a photo with a blue circle on their
index finger - the international sign for Diabetes Awareness Month.
"JDRF knows that when it comes to diabetes management, it's all about
the numbers: target blood glucose levels, number of needles; growing
prevalence and cost," said Dave Prowten, President and CEO of JDRF.
"People living with diabetes are faced with a lifetime of constantly
monitoring their blood sugar levels, some pricking their finger up to
eight times a day and injecting insulin up to four times daily. This is
why it is so important that we find a cure now. Every dollar makes a
difference and contributes to advancing diabetes research and
technology. We're counting on you."
