TORONTO, May 24, 2013 /CNW/ - Ed Waitzer, a senior partner of Stikeman
Elliott LLP and a previous chair of the Ontario Securities Commission
and Brian Gore, retired CEO and President of FundSERV, were appointed
members by the Brandes Funds Independent Review Committee (IRC)
effective May 1, 2013.
Ed and Brian join Nick Le Pan and Colum Bastable, both members since the
Brandes Funds IRC was formed six years ago. Brandes wishes to thank
Gerry Moloney who is stepping down as part of the planned rotation of

The role of the IRC is to review and provide its input on whether a
manager is dealing with such conflicts effectively and in the best
interests of the funds.
Biographies of the New Members of the Brandes Funds IRC
Edward J. Waitzer, Senior Partner, Stikeman Elliott LLP
Edward J. Waitzer joined Stikeman Elliott LLP in 1981 and his practice
focuses on complex business transactions, acquisitions and
restructurings, as well as advising in respect of various public policy
and governance matters. Prior to joining Stikeman Elliott, Mr. Waitzer
was vice-president of the Toronto Stock Exchange. He has also served as
the Chair of the Ontario Securities Commission (1993 to 1996), and was
the vice-chair of the Executive Committee of International Organization
of Securities Commissions in 1993 and chaired its Technical Committee
(1994 to 1996). During 2003-2004, Mr. Waitzer lived in Santiago and was
the special advisor to the Chilean Superintendent of Insurance and
Securities and is the president of the Canada-Chile Business Counsel.
Mr. Waitzer has been the Falconbrige Professor of Law at Osgoode Hall
Law School. Since 2008 he has been a professor, held the Jarislowsky
Dimma Mooney Chair in Corporate Governance and is director of the
Hennick Centre for Business and Law at Osgoode Hall Law School and the
Schulich School of Business at York University.
Brian Gore, Former President & Chief Executive Officer, FundSERV Inc.
Mr. Gore has over 25 years of investment fund industry experience, with
a focus on technology and administration. Mr. Gore recently retired as
President and Chief Executive Officer from FundSERV Inc. where he
worked since 2007. Mr. Gore began his career in the investment funds
industry in 1987 when he joined AGF as a Senior Systems Analyst and was
shortly thereafter promoted to Manager. In 1993, Mr. Gore accepted the
role of Vice-President of Client and Dealer Services and in 1996 was
appointed Senior Vice-President of Administration. In 2002, AGF created
a subsidiary, Unisen, and Mr. Gore was appointed Executive
Vice-President of Corporate Development. Citigroup acquired Unisen in
2005 and at that time he was named Director of Corporate Development.
