IBI Group Enhances Board with Two New Independent Directors and Announces Results of Annual General Meeting of Shareholders
TORONTO, May 23, 2014 /CNW/ - IBI Group Inc. (the "Company") (TSX: IBG) is pleased to announce the election of Jane Bird and Dr. Juri Pill as independent Directors to its Board of Directors (the "Board"). They were elected along with Scott Stewart, David Thom, Dale Richmond, Alan Marchment and Lorraine Bell at the Company's Annual General Meeting in Toronto on May 15th where its 2013 results were reported.
"Ms. Bird and Dr. Pill have spent their careers working on significant infrastructure projects that have helped define cities through progressive engineering and technology," said Dale Richmond, Chairman of the Board.
Jane Bird is an executive with Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Development in London, UK, where she is overseeing the renewal project of Canada House on Trafalgar Square. Before undertaking this role with Foreign Affairs, Ms. Bird was Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Power Corporation. Ms. Bird was previously Chief Executive Officer of Canada Line Rapid Transit Inc., responsible for the development and construction of the successful Canada Line, rapid transit line connecting downtown Vancouver with Richmond and the Vancouver International Airport.
A lawyer by trade, before her career in infrastructure she was a partner in private practice in corporate, commercial and real estate law. Ms. Bird is a Director of Global Container Terminals Inc. based in Vancouver and New York and of British Columbia Ferry Services Inc., based in Victoria. She is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Dr. Juri Pill is retired as Senior Vice President of Research at Oxford Properties Group, a Canadian real estate company based in Toronto. Before joining Oxford, Dr. Pill was Senior Vice President of Infrastructure at Borealis Capital and served as President and CEO of Enwave District Energy Limited, a district energy company in downtown Toronto.
Dr. Pill spent two decades as an executive with the Toronto Transit Commission. A Professional Engineer, he completed his undergraduate work in Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical Science Option) at McGill University and earned an M.Sc. in Control Engineering and a Ph.D. in Organizational Science from Case Western Reserve University.
With five independent directors sitting on its Board, IBI Group enhances and strengthens its combined expertise and experience, consistent with good corporate governance practice.
