The latest concept from the industry leader in kitchen design gives a nod to Audrey Hepburn's timeless elegance
BURLINGTON, ON, Jan. 27, 2012 /CNW/ - From January 26 -29, 2012, IKEA Canada will be wow-ing the design community and industry insiders with a show-stopping 980 square foot kitchen at the Interior Design Show 2012. Inspired by the classic fashion combination of a black dress and pearls, the booth features the company's newest offer of cabinet doors in high-gloss cream and black glass. The look is sophisticated, casual and timeless. It is designed to impress guests at a formal dinner party while providing practical solutions for everyday family living.
"We wanted to show that you can have it all when it comes to IKEA kitchens. We balanced high style and luxurious materials with functional solutions like the interior organization systems IKEA is known for," says Madeleine Löwenborg-Frick, Public Relations Manager, IKEA Canada. "Our inspiration came from fashion, so the look is haute couture, but the price is affordable."
The design elements that reflect the current kitchen trends are:
"Our research shows that the bulk of kitchen activity; whether it is food prep, entertaining dinner guests or homework; happens at the island. We switched things around and used the virtually indestructible Hanstone on the island and granite on the worktops. The island features two levels, making it even more functional for all of the daily activities it accommodates," says Löwenborg-Frick.
