Harper Government Invests in Culture in New Brunswick

FREDERICTON, Jan. 27, 2012 /CNW/ - New support for arts, culture, and official-language organizations will help create jobs and growth throughout New Brunswick, thanks to investments by the Government of Canada. Support for 103 projects was announced today by the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, Minister for the Atlantic Gateway, and Member of Parliament (Fredericton), on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

The funding supports a wide range of organizations and projects across the province, including many local festivals and cultural organizations. "By supporting these activities in New Brunswick, our Government is delivering on its commitment to strengthen our economy, boost tourism, and support our arts, culture, heritage, and official languages."

"Investing in culture is central to the economic health of communities across Canada," said Minister Ashfield. "Thanks to this investment, organizations in New Brunswick can continue to offer great performances and cultural experiences that will attract visitors to our province."
