HAMILTON, ON, Oct. 30, 2013 /CNW/ - Hamilton Health Sciences announced today the appointment of Rob MacIsaac as President and CEO, effective February 1, 2014.  MacIsaac will take over from current President and CEO Murray Martin who is retiring after 13 years in the role.

"We are extremely pleased to have attracted a leader of Rob's calibre," said Paul Chapin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hamilton Health Sciences on making the announcement.  "He has a track record of leading talented teams to take large and complex organizations to new levels of success.  His extensive public sector experience and long-standing connections to our communities will be an excellent complement to the world-class leadership we have in patient care and healthcare research and education."

MacIsaac is well known as a community builder. He is the recipient of both the Canada 125 and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medals. Currently the president of Mohawk College, he led the transformation of Mohawk's main campus and has positioned the college as a hub for post-secondary education and applied research in health and technology for the Golden Horseshoe area.  Prior to joining Mohawk, MacIsaac was the Chairman of Metrolinx, the transportation authority of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, and served three terms as Mayor of the City of Burlington from 1997 to 2006.

"This is a very exciting opportunity. Hamilton Health Sciences is a world-class healthcare organization with a significant economic impact in our region," commented MacIsaac.  "I'm extremely proud to be joining the team that leads Ontario in neo-natal intensive care, in cardiac surgeries, and in chemotherapy visits, just to name a few.  I look forward to working with the great people at HHS to continue building the organization as the cornerstone of community health care in South Central Ontario and as a model of success in integrated hospital systems."
