WINNIPEG, Nov. 8, 2013 /CNW/ - Grain Statistics Weekly now contains a
complete set of summary tables, including terminal receipts and
shipments for each week as of August 1, 2013. The statistics are
available at www.grainscanada.gc.ca
Statistics for all weeks since August 1, 2013 have been refreshed to
reflect the improved integrity of data reported by licensees.
Improvements in content include:
More commodities, not just major grains. Soybeans, lentils and mustard
seed have been added.
Exports by grain and major grades
Detailed dispositions from primary and process elevators
Imported grains by country of origin
Less stratified and summarized data which is easier to access and apply
according to the user's individual needs
The Canadian Grain Commission has worked on changes to Grain Statistics
Weekly over the past few months since amendments to the Canada Grain Act came into effect on August 1, 2013. Grain handling data is now
collected and compiled differently. Previously collected by grain
accounting systems, statistics on terminal elevator receipts, shipments
and week-ending stocks are reported by licensed companies.
"Changing the method of data collection and resolving data integrity
issues with licensed terminal elevators have taken a few months. We'd
like to thank our users for being so patient during the process," said
Anh Phan, Chief Statistician.
