TORONTO, Nov. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - A popular bilingual employment magazine, www.poss.ca, is shutting down due to a funding cut by the Ministry of Training,
Colleges and Universities (MTCU). The magazine is managed by Findhelp
Information Services, the nonprofit agency that delivers 211, a 24-hour
phoneline and online directory of social and community services.
The free bilingual magazine, which receives more than 50,000 visits a
month, is Toronto-centric but is viewed by visitors from 170 countries.
A perfect cross-over between an employment agency and a magazine, www.poss.ca takes into account Toronto's bilingual and Francophone job seekers and
their specific needs and is also a dedicated go-to information source
for other newcomers as well as youth and older jobseekers. The magazine
in its many forms has been addressing the extended needs of job
seekers, such as career search, career preparation, short-term
training, income support, etc. for close to 30 years. The magazine
rebranded completely in 2012 to continue serving its clients while
keeping up with the current trends of job seeking online.
The closure of the magazine sparked a response from many employment
"I am so sorry to hear that you will be losing your funding. As an
employment counsellor, I review your site monthly with an eye to

"I am so sorry to hear about your current situation. I cannot tell you
how helpful your website is in providing great, user friendly
information." -- Dave Moore, employment counsellor, Employment Services, Ontario Works
"I have assisted over 3,200 people with their resumés and in coping with
job loss. I have found poss.ca to be an invaluable resource and have shared your articles with many of
my clients. I am so sad to hear that you may be closing your doors in
early 2014 - you will be missed" -- Linda Smith, career consultant, Career Aspirations
The www.poss.ca project is expected to wind up by March 31 although the site may cease
operating as early as Dec. 31.
