CALGARY, June 19, 2012 /CNW/ - Insight Medical Imaging, Northern
Alberta's largest community based medical imaging provider, is opening
a state-of-the-art medical imaging facility in Fort McMurray on June
25, 2012. Prior to the existence of this facility, all medical imaging in
the Wood Buffalo region has been performed in hospital. With this new
clinic, patients now have community based access to a broad range of
key diagnostics. Wait times for these important studies should
significantly decrease, as should the need to travel to major centres
Located on the lower level of River City Centre, 404 Franklin Avenue,
the facility houses brand new imaging equipment to perform x-ray,
ultrasound, echocardiography mammography, bone densitometry and nuclear
medicine studies. Cardiac stress tests will also be available. Until
now, studies like nuclear medicine imaging and bone densitometry have
been unavailable locally to Fort McMurray residents. General x-ray
will be performed on a walk-in basis with no appointment needed,
although a requisition from a doctor is required.
Insight Medical Imaging is an established and up-to-date imaging
provider. All imaging studies are interpreted by radiologists with
Royal College and Fellowship training. Insight has long been a leader
in community based imaging, having served Alberta for more than 70
years. They have sixteen clinics in Edmonton and surrounding area.
Diagnostics available through the network of Insight clinics include
MRI and Northern Alberta's only non-hospital based CT scanner. Their
staff is friendly and well trained.
