TORONTO, June 20, 2012 /CNW/ - Deliberately timed to coincide with the
onset of summer, Drive Straight® 18 will raise funds for the efforts of
arrive alive DRIVE SOBER and will also raise awareness to prevent
impaired driving with summer underway.
According to Ontario's latest data (http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/safety/orsar/orsar09/index.shtml), impaired driving fatalities and injuries have been going down. Events
like Drive Straight deserve at least part of the credit for those
improvements. Since 2002, summer students from arrive alive DRIVE SOBER
attend other golf tournaments throughout the summer, either in person
or with materials and program components.
This year, Drive Straight linked to two new PSAs via activities at golf
holes; highlighting Jose Calderon (#8): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlinyDeBvJo&list=UUhQBZ5Fm9-2I7-cckyPMeQA&index=3&feature=plcp and Rob Rainford who recorded a special summer focussed home hosting
message earlier this year in Toronto: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4H-nKOA2mE&list=UUhQBZ5Fm9-2I7-cckyPMeQA&index=1&feature=plcp
"Drive Straight 18 promises to be a great event and will inspire many of
our partners and colleagues for their own efforts locally", notes Anne
Leonard, Executive Director, "and after all these (24) years it is
rewarding to see our programs grow and reap such good results."
