KING CITY, ON, May 6, 2013 /CNW/ - The Centre for Emergency Response &
Public Safety (CERPS Training Inc.) today announced a new web-based,
self-directed training course for Solar Photovoltaic Systems, Wind
Turbines and Firefighter Safety will open for on-line registration on
Friday May 31, 2013.
Developed in collaboration with the Ontario Fire College, this latest
CERPS program addresses the current best practices for fire suppression
when these installations are involved. In 2011, 91% of Canada's solar
photovoltaic capacity was installed in Ontario1 and currently, the Canadian Wind Energy Association lists more than
1,200 wind turbines operating in 46 sites across the province2.
"This new program responds to a rapid growth in solar and wind systems
in Ontario" said Jay Patterson, President & CEO of CERPS Training Inc.
"Ontario's Long Term Energy Plan encourages the growth of alternative
energy generation both in residential and commercial settings. Fire
Service professionals will have even more hazards to contend with as
they respond to fire emergencies that directly and indirectly threaten
Launched Ontario, Canada in 2012, CERPS is a centre for high quality
on-line education with the specific mandate to extend the reach,
frequency and effectiveness of training and skill development for
Firefighters. CERPS has licensed e-learning technology from Stillwater
Consulting Ltd., developers of the Fire Learning Management System or
FLMS, developed for training in municipal fire departments across
