TORONTO, Nov. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - Canada is among the five largest energy producing countries in the world according to the International Energy Agency, and Canadian jobs in oil and gas productions are expected to continue to grow into the future. Positions expected to arise range from the very highly skilled, requiring university degrees, to support roles involving on the job training, all receiving wages that are ranked amongst the highest in Canada.

CareerBuilder.ca and Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI) have developed a list of Hot Jobs in the oil and gas industry based on occupations with the greatest job increase between 2010 and 2013. The study uses EMSI's rich labour market database, which draws from a full range of Government sources including the Census, the Labour Force Survey, and the Survey of Employment, Payrolls, and Hours.

"Job growth across North America in the oil and gas industry continues to outpace other industries, and the trend is expected to continue into 2014 and beyond," said Brent Rasmussen, President of CareerBuilder North America. "The rapid employment growth is leading to challenges for employers as they struggle to close the skills gap caused by lower graduation rates in oil and gas related programs. While filling high skilled jobs is top of mind, there is also an abundance of positions in support roles that only require on the job training."
