Canadian News Hall of Fame to Induct Broadcast Deans

TORONTO, Feb. 28, 2012 /CNW/ - Veteran broadcasters Lloyd Robertson and Andy Walsh will be inducted into the Canadian News Hall of Fame in May.

Robertson, the longest-serving national news anchor in TV history, retired last fall after serving 57 years with the CBC and CTV networks.

Walsh has been in radio broadcasting since 1951, starting in Cornwall, Ontario, and is currently news anchor at News1130 in Vancouver, BC.

They will be inducted at a gala banquet at the Rosewater Supper Club in Toronto on Wednesday, May 16.

The News Hall of Fame was founded by the Toronto Press Club in 1965 and now honors more than 100 men and women who have made a significant contribution to journalism in Canada. They include newspaper, television and radio reporters, editors, publishers, cartoonists, columnists and authors.
