Breakfast Club of Canada brings 20 years of experience to the international table

Breakfast Club of Canada and President & Founder Daniel Germain
to be among the experts attending the 16th annual Global Child Nutrition Forum

MONTREAL, Sept. 29, 2014 /CNW/ - The Breakfast Club of Canada and Daniel Germain, the Club's President and Founder, will attend the 16th annual Global Child Nutrition Forum (GCNF) on September 29 to October 3 in Vanderbijlpark, South Africa. Nearly 200 stakeholders involved in various school feeding projects and programs around the globe will come together to share their experience and interact with top experts in the field, including the Breakfast Club of Canada.

Bringing the Club's know-how to the world

As a driving force for change in Canada for two decades, the Breakfast Club of Canada hopes that its presence at the GCNF will inspire and inform leaders in emerging nations. "We have developed a unique approach since we launched the Club in 1994, fuelled by the overwhelming contributions of thousands of volunteers and the cooperation of hundreds of community organizations," said Daniel Germain. "None of this would have been possible without the support and trust of the public, our employees, our faithful volunteers across the country and our partners who have wholeheartedly embraced our vision from day one. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Air Canada Foundation for its support and help for this trip and made it possible for us to be here. We are honoured to be able to relay the Club's experience and vision, as well as the caring and compassion of the Canadian people, outside our own borders. It is high time that we come together as a planet to stand up for our youth. We firmly believe that all children, no matter where they are from, should have an equal chance to succeed in life and realize their full potential."

The Breakfast Club of Canada's participation in the Global Child Nutrition Forum is in keeping with its goal of promoting engagement and awareness. The Club, which this year is celebrating its 20th anniversary, is committed to being at the vanguard of a worldwide social movement for children.

Global Child Nutrition Forum: A global catalyst

The GCNF is dedicated to providing assistance to leaders in emerging countries to develop and enhance school feeding programs. The Global Child Nutrition Foundation organizes this annual international event, the 2014 edition of which will focus on the role of nutrition as a core component of effective and sustainable school feeding programs. Arlene Mitchell, Executive Director of the Global Child Nutrition Foundation, maintains that the Breakfast Club of Canada's approach of nourishing both body and mind is exceptional: "As a Canadian leader in school nutrition and the Founding President of the Breakfast Club of Canada, Daniel Germain has been invited to participate in a panel at the 16th annual Global Child Nutrition Forum in South Africa. The Forum is the largest international conference of leaders of school meal programs. Over 240 participants from more than 40 countries are expected to attend the 2014 Forum from September 29 through October 3."
