Media Advisory - Canada's Largest Humanities and Social Sciences Conference, Congress 2021, Gets Underway May 27-June 4 Français
EDMONTON, AB, May 17, 2021 /CNW/ - Thousands of humanities and social science enthusiasts from around the world will convene later this month to discuss the critical conversations of our time. Rather than meeting in person, they will get together virtually through a unique digital platform hosted by the University of Alberta at the leading Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences (Congress 2021), Canada's largest academic gathering and one of most comprehensive in the world.
"This is the go-to event of the year for groundbreaking research in the humanities and social sciences, with a special focus this year on our theme, Northern Relations, as well as Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization (EDID)," said Gabriel Miller, President and CEO of the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences, which is organizing the event in partnership with the University of Alberta.
"The pandemic has prevented our in-person gathering, which typically draws 5,000 to 10,000 researchers, practitioners, policymakers, students and members of the public, so we've recreated the experience using breakthrough technology that will give attendees the look and feel of being on our beautiful campus, from welcome desks and swag bags, to networking opportunities and fun activities in between sessions," said Michael O'Driscoll, Congress Academic Convenor of the University of Alberta.
With thousands of research papers and presentations to be unveiled from experts worldwide on topics including EDID, Northern Relations, sociology, environment, history, literature, education, philosophy, law, religion and everything in between, members of the media are invited to attend all keynote and open sessions.
