Media Advisory - Remember Mother's Day through Olympic skating star Joannie
Rochette and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute with iheartmom
OTTAWA, May 5 /CNW Telbec/ -
WHEN: Remember Mother's Day through Olympic skating star Joannie
Rochette and the University of Ottawa Heart institute with
iheartmom, a new initiative to raise funds and awareness to fight
the leading killer of women - heart disease.
WHO: Tell women everywhere - the Top Ten Things Women Should Know about
Heart Disease and other important information for women on the
Heart Institute web site at
http://www.ottawaheart.ca/heart_disease/women_heart_disease.htm
WHAT: Heart Institute physicians will share personal stories of their
mothers and their warnings about women and heart disease. Women
patients are pleased to tell of their own journeys, their illness
and recovery from heart disease.
WHY: Joannie skated to Olympic fame just days after losing her mother
to a massive heart attack in February. Many women still do not
know the dangers of heart disease. In 2005, more than 25,000
Canadian women of all ages died from heart disease. To prevent
these deaths, we need more research, more advanced treatment and
better education - all of which require financial support.
See www.iheartmom.ca to help support a new initiative for women,
to see and support Joannie and others who explain why women of all
ages need to know about heart disease.
