RBC names Charles Milliard and Bob Eyton-Jones as first 2010 Olympic Torchbearers in Montreal

    MONTREAL, June 26 /CNW Telbec/ - Today at 11 a.m., RBC Royal Bank will
introduce Montreal's first Olympic Torchbearers at a barbecue held on the
Place Ville Marie plaza. A model of the Olympic Torch and a preview of its
route across the Montreal region will also be presented to clients, visitors
and the media. Representatives of RBC and the Olympic community will be on
hand, including RBC's Micheline Martin, Regional President, Quebec, Richard
Légaré, Vice-President, and Giovanna Francavilla, branch Manager, as well as
Benoit Huot, RBC Paralympian and community ambassador.
    Charles Milliard and Bob Eyton-Jones were chosen by RBC as Montreal's
first 2010 Olympic Torchbearers for their individual pledge to make their
communities a better place. Charles Milliard is an active member and treasurer
of the Canadian branch of Pharmacists Without Borders, and Bob Eyton-Jones has
taken a personal and professional stance to reduce as much paper consumption
as possible.
    "We are pleased to announce Charles Milliard and Bob Eyton-Jones as 2010
Olympic Torchbearers and recognize the contribution their pledge will make to
creating an even better Canada," said Micheline Martin, Regional President,
Quebec, RBC Royal Bank. "Anyone can be part of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic
Torch Relay. We encourage residents of the Greater Montreal area to share in
this thrill of a lifetime by entering our RBC Carry the Torch Contest, at
www.carrythetorch.com, to win the ultimate Olympic experience."
    RBC will award over 2,300 Olympic Torchbearer spots through this contest
which closes July 15, 2009. To enter, pledge to create a better Canada at
www.carrythetorch.com.
    Approximately 12,000 Canadians will carry the flame across the country
with millions more cheering and supporting them. Applicants will be asked to
select where in Canada they want to carry the Olympic Flame. Torchbearer
applicants must be a resident of Canada, aged 13 or older. Full contest rules
and regulations are available on RBC's website at www.carrythetorch.com.
    From June 21 to June 27, RBC celebrates those individuals and groups, who
are committed to making their community a better place to live.
