Mark DeMontis, legally blind, set to in-line skate 5,000 km from Toronto
to Vancouver to raise awareness and support for blind hockey programs for
visually impaired Canadian youth
TORONTO, June 24 /CNW/ - On June 26th, 2009 at the Hockey Hall of Fame in
Toronto, former Maple Leaf hockey players, Johnny Bower and Ron Ellis, with
Mark DeMontis of Courage Canada will be speaking about Mark's Quest to the
West, and the importance of ensuring that visually impaired youth receive the
opportunity to learn and enjoy the nation's favourite sport of hockey.
On June 27th, 2009, Mark DeMontis will begin a 5,000 km in-line skate
from his community of Weston in Toronto, ON to Vancouver, BC in order to raise
awareness and donations for Courage Canada (www.couragecanada.ca), the
not-for-profit organization he founded in 2008, with the goal to fund
learn-to-skate programs and skill development sessions for blind youth across
Canada.
