Naked Eye Magazine Hits a Knockout with Georges St-Pierre
MONTREAL, July 20 /CNW Telbec/ - Naked Eye Magazine, Canada's only pop
culture source, hits stands this summer with UFC welterweight champion Georges
St-Pierre as its cover star.
Georges - GSP to fans - was voted 2008's 'Canadian Athlete of the Year'
by Rogers Sportsnet and is one of mixed martial arts (MMA)'s biggest stars. At
the historical event of UFC 100, French-Canadian Georges St-Pierre re-affirmed
his world welterweight champion status against his biggest threat to date,
Thiago Alves. Naked Eye is proud to sport this exceptional Canadian on the
cover of its summer issue, with a full feature article and pictorial that is a
must for any true MMA fan.
"Naked Eye's summer issue is most definitely a knockout," affirms new
editor-in-chief Karine LaRocque. "The magazine's new team has been working
endlessly on bringing the publication to the next level."
Our summer issue is packed with star power, featuring hit-makers
extraordinaire The Black Eyed Peas, Canadian acts The New Cities and
Alexisonfire, Montreal-based DJ electro sensation Tiga, Chicago's leaders of
the new school hip hop sound Hollywood Holt and Million Dollar Mano, London's
biggest midget in the game Lady Sovereign, as well as L.A.'s glam-rap
superstar Mickey Avalon and veteran electronic artists The Crystal Method.
The summer issue's film section takes a look at the Cult of Quentin
Tarantino on the eve of his Inglourious Basterds release, and introduces us to
rising sci-fi star Anton Yelchin, who's hitting it big this summer with two
blockbusters - Star Trek and Terminator Salvation. Jay Leno bids farewell to
his late-night TV spot and Denzel Washington plays a not-so-average Joe in The
Taking of Pelham 1 2 3. We also take a look at the differences between Sacha
Baron Cohen's hilarious alter egos, Bruno and Borat, and give a run-down of
SXSW's most music-heavy movies.
Also in this issue, Serena Williams opens up about love and her curiosity
for online dating, Toronto-based PR firm Pink Mafia answers the raunchiest sex
questions that our readers could muster, while Simple Plan's Sebastien
Lefebvre and scorching-hot model Vanessa Blouin give us their takes on the
best (and worst) first-date drinks.
This season, Naked Eye presents fabulous fashion spreads by Canadian
photographers Brian Ypperciel, Mackenzie Duncan, and Trevor Brady with over
twenty-five pages of style and art. Other features include an exploration of
the doga trend (yoga with dogs!), the fixed gear craze, tech tricks, celebrity
diets, Ashton Kutcher's Twitter domination, a feature on the work of
outstanding Canadian David Suzuki, an intimate Q&A with So You Think You Can
Dance Canada winner Nico Archambault, and much more.
