Story opportunity - Photo opportunity - VCC celebration marks Braille Birthday

    VANCOUVER, Feb. 25 /CNW/ - This year marks the 200th anniversary of the
birth of Louis Braille, and Vancouver Community College is celebrating to
recognize how his alphabet has positively impacted people who are visually
impaired.
    Students, faculty and staff from VCC's program for the visually impaired
are hosting an open house and technology display followed by birthday cake and
the official dedication of the college's braille sculpture Double Blind, 2008
by Antonia Hirsch in VCC's new building.

    Media are invited to attend the two special events:

    WHEN:       Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009

    WHERE:      VCC's Broadway campus, 1155 East Broadway

    WHAT:       Open house at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in room 2501
                Official dedication 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the north building
