CHINA - Li Changqing freed on completing three-year sentence

    MONTREAL, Feb. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Reporters Without Borders welcomes online
journalist Li Changqing's release on 2 February on completing a three-year
sentence for writing about a dengue epidemic in the southeastern Fuzhou region
for Boxun(www.boxun.com), a Chinese-language news website based abroad. Former
editor of Fuzhou Daily, he was initially charged with "inciting subversion of
state authority" following his arrest on 3 February 2005. In the end, he was
convicting of  disseminating "alarmist information" in January 2006.
Physically weaker after three years in prison, Li thanked all those abroad who
campaigned on his behalf.
