OTTAWA, May 5, 2016 /CNW/ - The public is invited to an afternoon of music, marching, pageantry and precision at the Governor General and Commander-in-Chief's Military Tattoo on Saturday, May 14, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Rideau Hall. This event will honour the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who is celebrating her 90th birthday this year.
"As commander-in-chief of Canada, I'm proud to welcome more than 300 Forces members to Rideau Hall for this display of our country's military history and traditions," said the Governor General. "This event presents an opportunity for the public to witness the precision and skill of our Canadian Armed Forces and for all of us to show our appreciation for our men and women in uniform."
This exciting spectacle will feature CAF massed military bands, pipes and drums, highland dancers, precision drills, a 100-person guard of honour and a 21-gun salute. The tattoo will also showcase historical re-enactments and Aboriginal cultural elements. The event is open to the public, free of charge and will take place rain or shine.
This military tattoo is presented in collaboration with the Canadian Armed Forces and will feature the Royal Military College of Canada, the Governor General's Horse Guards, the Governor General's Foot Guards and Band, the Canadian Grenadier Guards and the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces.
