HAMILTON, ON, Sept. 11, 2012 /CNW/ - Infrastructure Ontario and Hamilton
Health Sciences Corporation have issued a request for qualifications to
design, build and finance the new McMaster Children's Treatment Centre.
The state-of-the-art facility will be built on Wellington Street across
from the Regional Rehabilitation Centre.
The building will be fully accessible and will include an outdoor
wheeling track, a therapeutic playground and physiotherapy space. The
new site will bring together a number of programs that are currently
located at Hamilton Health Sciences' Chedoke campus, including:
child and youth mental health programs
developmental pediatrics and rehabilitation programs
prosthetic and orthotic services
Together, these programs accommodate 70,000 visits annually. The new
centre will provide family-focused service and individualized
programming based on the needs of children and their families.
The request for qualifications is the first step in the procurement
process to select a team to design, build and finance the project.
Submissions will be reviewed to pre-qualify project teams with the
design and construction experience as well as the qualified personnel
and financial strength to deliver a project of this size and
complexity. These teams will then be invited to respond to a request
for proposals, which is expected to be released in the spring of 2013.
Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services
