Halifax Mooseheads on-hand to help out as Purolator renews its sponsorship of the hockey club
HALIFAX, April 11, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, Purolator delivered on its commitment to 'tackle hunger' in Atlantic communities with the donation of a delivery truck to the FEED NOVA SCOTIA organization, stuffed with food donated by Purolator teammates. Joining in the spirit of the day, representatives of the Halifax Mooseheads Hockey Club assisted local Purolator teammates unload the truck, in appreciation of the company's renewed sponsorship of the organization.
"Purolator is in the business of delivering essential products and services to Canadians, and nothing is more essential than a nutritious meal," said Tom McMenamon, Director of Operations, Atlantic Canada, Purolator Inc. "As a Canadian company, it is our priority to give back to the communities in which we live, work and play. We're absolutely thrilled to support FEED NOVA SCOTIA and the Halifax Mooseheads today. Working together, we are committed to tackling hunger in Nova Scotia."
Purolator and FEED NOVA SCOTIA's mutual goal of feeding the hungry will be greatly assisted by the donated truck. Furthermore, Purolator will host an annual food drive for FEED NOVAL SCOTIA at a Halifax Mooseheads home game.
"Living in poverty with the constant struggle of putting enough food on the table is an all-consuming existence for thousands of Nova Scotians," says Dianne Swinemar, executive director for FEED NOVA SCOTIA, a charitable organization that supports more than 150 member agencies across the province. "For many, the ability to access support from a local food bank, shelter, soup kitchen or meal program means the difference between eating or not. Our job is to help make sure the shelves and refrigerators at these agencies are well stocked each time someone reaches out for assistance. This special and generous donation from Purolator will help us to achieve this mandate."
"The Halifax Mooseheads are extremely pleased to have renewed its agreement with Purolator," says Travis Kennedy, vice president corporate relations, Halifax Mooseheads Hockey Club.
