Public Broadcasting in the Digital Age - Seizing All Opportunities - CBC/Radio-Canada's Annual Public Meeting

MONCTON, NB, Sept. 27, 2016 /CNW/ - CBC/Radio-Canada is proud to hold its Annual Public Meeting today in Moncton, with the theme Public Broadcasting in the Digital Age – Seizing All Opportunities. The discussion will be led by Janique Leblanc (Le téléjournal Acadie) and Ian Hanomansing (CBC News Network).

In the age of always-on connectivity and unlimited content sources, can CBC/Radio-Canada seize the opportunities created by digital to continue telling Canadian stories? We look forward to discussing this with Canadians, who can participate in person or watch the live webcast at

"Our Annual Public Meeting is yet another way for us connect with Canadians and the Moncton community, and to bring this community closer to its public broadcaster," said Hubert T. Lacroix, CBC/Radio-Canada's President and CEO, who will address Canadians at the start of the event. "Since the launch of our Strategy 2020 twenty-seven months ago, we have been engaging with more Canadians than ever here in Moncton and throughout the country, giving them more content that matters to them. Nationwide, over 16 million Canadians use our digital platforms each month – that's three million more than last year."

The public broadcaster will continue to do more, to transform and to innovate. This is our view of the future: a better, more relevant public broadcaster, one that is more connected to Canadians, their communities and the information that is important to them.
