launches MinesQC.com, an online dialogue and informational platform aimed at the general
public and bringing together the players and stakeholders of Quebec's
Through MinesQC.com, the mining industry seeks to inform and engage in dialogue with
citizens in order that they may form their own opinions about the
industry and its contribution to Quebec's sustainable development. This
initiative is a North American first.
The industry's principal spokespersons, Ms. Valérie Fillion of the
Québec Mineral Exploration Association (QMEA) and Ms. Josée Méthot of
the Québec Mining Association (QMA), consider this platform "a highly
relevant tool that will allow the general public to dispel the myths
and realities surrounding the industry and its contribution to a better
quality of life."
According to Mr. Dean Journeaux, Executive Vice-Chairman of New
Millennium Iron, "MinesQC.com is a groundbreaking project. It's the first web platform for
industry-wide dialogue and information that allows completely
transparent interaction with the public. Stakeholders are invited to
