Livingston International acquires Maquilogistics to expand operations to
U.S.-Mexico border
TORONTO, Sept. 24 /CNW/ - Livingston International has acquired Texas-based Maquilogistics, Inc. announced Livingston's president and CEO, Peter Luit, today.
This strategic move will extend Livingston's customs and compliance expertise to companies importing into the United States from Mexico, including those taking advantage of the Mexican maquiladora program who must meet complex regulatory requirements to maintain the benefits of the program.
"This is a very friendly deal," said Jim McNamara, principal and co-owner of Maquilogistics, which will become an important and integral part of Livingston's growth platform to become a national full-service U.S. customs broker.
"Our companies are a very good fit," Luit added. "The addition of southern border customs and compliance to our U.S. northern border and air/sea services completes our chain of U.S. brokerage services. This acquisition enables us to provide one-stop customs and compliance services for U.S. companies importing goods from Mexico, Canada and around the world."
Maquilogistics employs approximately 50 people and has offices and warehouse facilities in McAllen, Brownsville, El Paso and Laredo, Texas. Founded in 2000, the company specializes in customs clearance, compliance and logistics services for importers and exporters with maquiladora operations in Mexico. Like Livingston, the company is C-TPAT-certified.
