TORONTO, Oct. 1, 2018 /CNW/ - The Law Society of Ontario today kicked off a province-wide public awareness campaign, to generate greater understanding of what the Law Society does and how members of the public can access the right legal services when they need them.
"The campaign strengthens the Law Society's relevance as a progressive, modern regulator and encourages the public to use the Law Society as a "go-to" place for getting information about legal resources and referrals to lawyers and paralegals," says Law Society Treasurer Malcolm Mercer. "The awareness campaign will also highlight the critical role that the legal professions play in enabling access to legal services for all Ontarians."
Approved by the Law Society's governing board last February, the first phase of the campaign includes digital, radio, transit and billboard advertising that will reach a wide cross section of Ontario's population.
The campaign features the theme of "Our Society is Your Society" and will run until December 3, 2018.
As part of this initiative to increase accessibility, the Law Society's website has been completely redeveloped with a brand new look and feel that provides a more service-oriented and user-friendly experience for the public and licensees. The lawyer and paralegal directory has also been significantly enhanced.
The Law Society logo has also been updated, to reflect the Law Society's relevance as a modern regulator and its progressive approach. The three concentric circles of the new logo represent components of the Law Society's work: the public, the legal professions and the regulatory framework.
"I encourage people to explore the new website and to watch and listen for the awareness campaign in their communities," says Treasurer Mercer. "I also hope that people will follow and engage in the campaign through social media."
