EDC recognized as a Top Employer

OTTAWA, Feb. 5, 2015 /CNW/ - Export Development Canada (EDC) has been named one of the National Capital Region's Top Employers for 2015.

EDC is the leading provider of financing and insurance for small Canadian companies that have business outside of Canada.

The annual ranking was released today by Mediacorp Inc., the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. The list recognizes Ottawa-area employers that lead their industries as exceptional workplaces, assessing businesses for their physical environments, performance management and employee benefits.

"To be selected as one of the region's top employers is a great honour," said Catherine Decarie, Senior Vice-President of Human Resources and Communications, EDC. "Trade accounts for 60 per cent of Canada's GDP, so it's critical that EDC is able to attract and retain the best and brightest employees from the private financial sector to deliver value for Canada. This is why we work so hard to offer a corporate culture that encourages diversity and innovation, and fosters continuous improvement."

As part of its evaluation of EDC, Mediacorp highlighted a number of workplace features and employee programs that make EDC an Ottawa employer of choice.

"EDC employees have a unique opportunity to serve Canadian exporters and make a real difference for Canada's economic growth, and we know that is one of the main reasons people choose to work, and stay, at EDC," said Decarie. "It's important that we continue to offer a workplace that is motivating, where employees are highly engaged and empowered to meet the unique needs of Canadian companies."
