"The Student Investment Fund Conference continues to be an important forum for students and industry professionals to learn from one another and discuss the trends shaping our industry," said Brian Lee, Chief Financial Officer, CIBC Mellon. "What stands out about this conference is the level of engagement students bring to the discussion. They're eager to learn, ask insightful questions, and contribute fresh perspectives that often lead to some of the most meaningful conversations of the day. I'm continually impressed by the depth of talent, curiosity, and professionalism we see from participants. The future of our industry is bright, and I look forward to meeting this year's students, hearing their ideas, and seeing the impact they will make as the next generation of investment leaders."
Investing in the next generation of talent is one of the most important ways we can support the future of the financial services industry," said Michael Thom, Managing Director, CFA Societies Canada. "The CIBC Mellon Student Investment Fund Conference is a great way to provide students with valuable exposure to the investment profession and the many career paths it offers. We're pleased to support an event that helps aspiring professionals build connections and gain insights that will serve them throughout their careers."
"Presenting at the conference gave me the chance to put my research and investment thesis to the test in front of other students and industry professionals," said Yazan Abusaleh (Bachelor of Commerce, Major in Finance, Minor in Economics) Portfolio Manager of the Student Managed Investment Fund at Toronto Metropolitan University. "Defending my stock pitch built my confidence, while hearing how other student funds approach stock selection and portfolio construction gave me new perspectives to bring back to our own fund. It was a great opportunity to learn from my peers and gain experience beyond the classroom."
Student investment fund sponsors and schools interested in participating can register to attend. Space is limited, with attendance prioritized for student fund and case competition participants.
