High school students invited to the Ontario Universities' Fair, the most attended educational fair in Canada

TORONTO, Sept. 18, 2013 /CNW/ - Choosing which university to attend is one of the most important decisions students will have to make. The annual Ontario Universities' Fair (OUF) takes out the guesswork by bringing all 21 Ontario universities together to inform students and parents about everything they need to know about academic programs and campus life.

The three-day annual fair gives the next generation of university students and their parents the opportunity to learn about what the various institutions have to offer through first-hand accounts from professors, staff and current students.

This year, the OUF will be held September 27-29, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. No registration is required and entry is free of charge.

Information will be available at university booths and in scheduled presentations about programs, courses, extracurricular activities, residence, internships, scholarships and much more.

"The Ontario Universities' Fair is an exceptional place for students and families to begin researching the diverse options offered at Ontario's universities," says Natasha Bijelich, Chair of the OUF Steering Committee and Recruitment Officer for the University of Toronto.

The OUF is the only event in the Toronto area where all 21 Ontario universities will be represented. "Visitors can learn about Ontario's 21 universities by meeting with faculty, staff and students from across the province and attending hourly presentations and interactive sessions," adds Bijelich.

The unique opportunity to speak directly with university representatives under one roof is one of many aspects that sets the OUF apart from other educational fairs. Growing from 30,000 attendees when it was launched in 1997 to 120,000 last year, the OUF is the most attended educational fair in Canada, and one of the largest in North America.

"I know that if I were a high school student deciding which university was for me, or a mature student considering university study, I'd be at the Ontario Universities' Fair," says Bonnie M. Patterson, President of the Council of Ontario Universities.

"There are many wonderful choices and all the information available at the OUF makes the decision to choose the right university less daunting."

For those unable to attend the OUF, Ontario's 21 universities will send representatives to select locations across Ontario following the OUF to speak with students as part of the annual, joint University Information Program (UIP). On-campus tours and visits also take place at each institution throughout the year.

"We invite everyone to join us this September for the OUF or in the weeks that follow during the UIP!" says Bijelich.
