Media Advisory - "Halloween Haunt" fans needed to help Heart and Stroke Foundation break the CPR Guinness World Record this Thursday at Wonderland.
TORONTO, Oct. 24, 2012 /CNW/ - The Heart and Stroke Foundation's (HSF) goal to break the CPR Guinness World Record and teach thousands to help save lives is getting close, but more trainees are still needed.
"We're calling on all Wonderland Halloween Haunt fans to come out this Thursday night and help us make history by breaking a Guinness record for most people trained in CPR all at once," said Mark Holland, Director of Health Promotion and Public Affairs. "Tickets cost only $14.99, and the weather forecast is calling for a warm, clear night. Come enjoy the rides, and learn to save lives."
What: Hands-only CPR training at Canada's Wonderland Halloween Haunt event. Training provided by certified CPR instructors, emergency dispatchers, paramedics, firefighters and nurses from across the GTA. Maximum capacity is 10 thousand people.
When: Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and close at 6:45 p.m. CPR training will last 30 minutes and will be conducted just after 7 p.m. when everyone is in attendance. Tickets: To purchase tickets online go to www.theundeading.ca. You must be 13 years of age or older, no costumes allowed.
Who: Will Jones, HSF survivor spokesperson, suffered cardiac arrest in his high school class and was saved by teachers who knew CPR and a firefighter who used an AED. This week Will celebrated his 26th birthday and today he is an aerospace engineer and is completing his MBA. Also in attendance HSF spokespeople and thousands of CPR trainees.
Entertainment: Lazybones led by MuchMusic VJ Matt Wells and Toronto band Eclecticus.
Media parking: Highway 400 North to Major Mackenzie. Turn right (heading east) to Jane Street. Turn left at Jane heading north, driving away from the park. On the left hand side, just north of the Esso station, take the employee road, which goes back underneath Major Mac to the employee parking lot. There will be a small check point, and then continue driving along the Leviathan rollercoaster towards main guest parking lot to access event area. Follow Media signage.
