The Global Insurer recognizes Sunlife with Best Digital Insurance Company in Canada and Best Mobile Insurance App in Canada
TORONTO, Nov. 5, 2026 /CNW/ -- Thirteen million Canadians turn to Sunlife to protect their families, prioritize their health and build financial security. Sunlife is putting digital and AI to work across its business to make those experiences simpler, more connected and better supported by trusted advice. That enterprise-wide transformation has earned Sunlife two Global Insurance Innovation Awards from The Global Insurer: Best Digital Insurance Company in Canada and Best Mobile Insurance App in Canada.
The awards recognize a transformation that extends from how Clients access care, coverage and claims to how advisors deliver guidance and employees provide service. Together, these capabilities show how Sunlife is translating digital and AI investment into meaningful value, improving access for Clients, creating greater capacity for personalized advice and enabling more seamless experiences across the business.
"Millions of Canadians count on Sunlife at some of the most important moments in their lives, whether they are managing their health, planning for the future or protecting the people they love," said Jessica Tan, Executive Vice-President & President, Sunlife Canada. "As their expectations evolve, so must the way we serve them. By combining digital and AI with trusted human advice, we're making those moments easier to navigate and helping Clients move forward with confidence."
Best Digital Insurance Company in Canada
The Best Digital Insurance Company award recognized Sunlife's enterprise-wide digital and AI strategy, helping Clients access support more easily, advisors deliver personalized advice and employees provide seamless service. Some of the innovations include Notes Assistant, which saves advisors approximately 15 to 30 minutes per Client meeting and is used across Sunlife's advisor network; Advisor Concierge, which saw more than 2,200 users generate 15,600 queries within its first two weeks of launch; and the GRS Agentic Accelerator, an early application of agentic AI in insurance that is simplifying enrolment processes and reducing operational friction.
Best Mobile Insurance App in Canada
The Best Mobile Insurance App award recognizes Sunlife's One App strategy, which brings claims, benefits, insurance, savings and investments together with virtual health care, mental-health counselling and pharmacy services. This year alone, the my Sun Life app has already been downloaded nearly one million times. It supports more than one million quarterly active users and now receives over 50% of all member-initiated claims. It is the first in the Canadian industry to integrate health, benefits, insurance and wealth capabilities into a single digital experience.
"Clients don't experience their health and finances in isolation. By bringing more of Sunlife together in one place, we're making it simpler for Clients to understand their options and take the next best step for their health and financial well-being," said Marie-Chantal Côté, Senior Vice-President, Sunlife Health. "The my Sun Life app puts more at Clients' fingertips, so they can spend less time navigating and more time focused on what matters to them."
