VANCOUVER, BC, Nov. 3, 2026 /CNW/ -- With clinics across British Columbia switching to Ava EMR almost every month, Ava Industries Ltd. has seen 80 per cent more B.C. clinics switch to Ava, than during all of 2025. To meet that growing demand, the Canadian electronic medical record (EMR) provider is strengthening local support and has developed tools to support more efficient care.
To date, approximately 15 per cent of Ava's workforce is based in British Columbia, and the company has plans to grow its local team. These team members help clinics transition from older EMRs, provide ongoing support and contribute to tools developed around provincial workflows.
This focus on improving technology and strengthening local expertise aims to address a persistent challenge for B.C. physicians. In January 2026, Doctors of BC reported that 48 per cent of B.C. respondents to a national physician survey said their time spent on administrative tasks had increased over the previous year.
A recent Ava case study illustrates how reducing that workload can create more capacity for care. Ava's AI features saved more than six minutes per patient, with those time savings contributing to a 25 per cent increase in daily appointment capacity in one program.
"Health-care teams are under enormous pressure, and they deserve an EMR that gives time back rather than creating more work," said Dr. Mike Forseth, CEO and Co-Founder of Ava Industries. "As more clinics in British Columbia choose Ava, we feel a responsibility to grow with them and put real people, resources, and development behind supporting their work."
Recent updates shaped by local health-care team feedback include antenatal care workflows and support for B.C. duplicate prescription forms. These additions help clinicians meet provincial requirements within Ava and reduce the need for additional documentation.
Growing with a Responsibility to British Columbia and Canada
As a certified B Corporation, Ava measures its impact through both the health-care teams it serves and the communities it supports. In British Columbia, that includes local employment and working with provincial suppliers and vendors.
Supporting those communities means respecting their distinct health-care needs and rights over their information. Ava is strengthening its approach to First Nations health care while respecting First Nations data sovereignty. This work includes training for team members on the First Nations principles of OCAP®: ownership, control, access and possession. By deepening its understanding of First Nations' rights to govern their own information, Ava aims to make more informed improvements to its technology and practices.
