ZipLocal and Metro newspapers forge content partnership

Combination of next-generation online search directory with Canada's most
popular free daily newspapers will benefit both online and print readers.

TORONTO, June 21 /CNW/ - ZipLocal Inc. (TSX Venture Exchange: ZIP),
formerly redCity Search Company Inc., today announced an innovative
partnership agreement with Metro newspapers, the largest and fastest-growing
international newspaper brand in the world.
The partnership will see ZipLocal's advanced local search service
integrated within the site; powering fast, relevant hyper-local
search for people in communities right across Canada. In addition, select
ZipLocal online advertisers will benefit from additional listings in an
exclusive special weekly print section in the Metro free daily newspaper for
each of six local metro communities.
Within the Weekend Section published in each Friday's edition of Metro,
select ZipLocal advertisers will be included in a new half-page section of
themed content listings, with both a local and topical focus. Themes and
topics to be covered under this arrangement could include Patios &
Restaurants, Family Activities, Tourist Attractions, and Weekend Getaways.
"Metro newspapers have grown quickly by proving that they understand the
importance of relevant news and information for readers in Canada's top six
cities," said Elaine Kunda, ZipLocal President and CEO. "The combination of
Metro's local news and ZipLocal's hyper-local neighbourhood search is a
natural fit for Metro readers, and we're thrilled that our advertisers will
gain such terrific exposure."
Through this unique, bi-directional partnership, the ZipLocal search
functionality will be featured throughout Metro's ubiquitous online and print
distribution network. Readers of Metro in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton,
Calgary and Vancouver will now have fast and easy access to local business
directory information without leaving the online version of Metro, Canada's
favourite free local daily newspaper.
The new advertising section is expected to be welcomed by Metro readers,
as a useful resource to help people plan weekend activities in their local
community. ZipLocal advertising partners will see the obvious benefit of
having their listings appear in the weekly round-up of relevant, local events.
In addition, the enhanced brand presence for ZipLocal, through
association with Metro newspapers, will add even further value to the company.
Metro is known for providing superb local news and information in print;
ZipLocal is becoming known as the resource of choice for Canadian
neighbourhood information online.
"Metro's success in Canada is built on our ability to offer high quality,
dependable, free local, national and international news to people in the
communities we serve," said Bill McDonald, Group Publisher, Metro English
Canada. "Adding comprehensive local neighbourhood content from ZipLocal to our
Weekend Edition will provide Metro's already engaged loyal audience with an
abundance of ideas around their weekends. This partnership helps us add
further value to our service to readers in local communities."
ZipLocal is a next-generation online search directory that provides a
rich, self-defined search experience at the community level. Unlike
traditional search engines, ZipLocal understands the notion of neighbourhoods,
and helps people find usable information about shops, services, and the local
scene in a more targeted, simple, and relevant way. ZipLocal will ultimately
become the smartest choice for Canadian consumers and advertisers, making
local business information more findable and useful than ever before.
There are now Metro newspapers in all of Canada's top six cities, making
high-quality free daily newspapers available to 45% of the total Canadian
population. Canada's largest free daily newspaper, Metro distributes
760,000 copies every weekday.
