Yonge Street closure advisory - Thornhill celebrates its community spirit

    TORONTO, Sept. 12 /CNW/ - On Saturday, September 20th 2008 from
10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Yonge Street will be completely closed to traffic
between Royal Orchard Boulevard and Clark Street. This section is located in
Thornhill, in southern York Region between Steeles Avenue and Highway 407.
    Motorists who use Yonge St. as a through route are advised to use either
Bathurst Street or Bayview Avenue.
    Several side streets including Centre Street will be closed from 8:00 am
until 5:30 pm
    Between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thornhill will be holding its 32nd
Village Festival along two kilometres of streets in Old Thornhill. This annual
event of the Society for the Preservation of Historic Thornhill attracts up to
10,000 visitors.

    The Parade is from 11.00 am until 12:30 pm.
    Entertainment is at several locations.
    Over 150 booths offer a wide variety of crafts.
    There is an Art Show & Sale (Fall Mosaic) in the MacDonald House
    There are special amusements for children and teens.

    Because the Festival is organised by a volunteer committee, there is an
admission charge of $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for teens and seniors.
Admission is free for children (12 and under) and for those in heritage
