MILTON, ON, June 14 /CNW/ - The first annual Escarpment Blues Festival
July 13, 14 and 15 at County Heritage Park near Milton will offer the top
Blues performers from Canada, the United States and Europe in a spectacular
natural setting on the Niagara Escarpment.
Today's stars will be performing alongside the legends who popularized
the Blues in the '40s, '50s and '60s, with such luminaries as Jeff Healy,
David Wilcox, Alberta Adams, Sonny Rhodes, Dave Mason, Ten Years After and
Danny Marks. Also featured will be Doc Mclean, Walter Trout, James Anthony,
Carlos del Juno, Savoy Brown, Watermelon Slim and Colin James.
Milton's Country Heritage Park, less than a half-hour west of Toronto,
provides a magnificent setting for the first annual Escarpment Blues Festival,
and invites a celebration of the stunning environment surrounding the
festival. In addition to the performers, there will be exhibits and
demonstrations of products, services and technology that can help improve our
relationship with - and appreciation of - our environment. Also included with
admission to the festival are all the onsite amenities of Country Heritage
park, including the antique farming equipment and buildings, wagon rides,
guitar workshops and many other family activities.
The Escarpment Blues Festival is doing everything in its power to make
sure that all aspects of the weekend are contributing to environmental
awareness in our communities. GREENVILLE, the interactive tradeshow will
provide information for individuals on making a difference in their own
communities. Normally, the largest causes of garbage at festivals are the
cups, plates and utensils. Escarpment Blues Festival has taken the initiative
to reduce this as much as possible by using items that are made from
sugarcane, corn or natural fibers but are capable of the normal tasks of these
products. A normal plastic cup or plate takes on average 10-20 years to
biodegrade, whereas the natural fiber ones only take up to 48 days.
This Festival is also working with Tree Canada to be the first Carbon
Neutral Blues Festival in Ontario.
