World Premiere - IPL launches the production of the revolutionary new heated hockey skate blade by Therma Blade

    SAINT-DAMIEN, QC, Dec. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, IPL's president, Mr. Serge
Bragdon, and Therma Blade's president, Mr. Dhiren Master were happy to start
the production of the heated hockey skate blade in the presence of the
Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, Mr. Raymond
"The performance and the physiological benefits of Therma Blade will
revolutionize the game, making it more fun for hockey players and more
exciting for fans" declared Mr. Dhiren Master.

    An important investment

This heated hockey skate blade is made at the IPL plant in St-Damien in a
production area that is very original considering that it is shaped like a
hockey rink. This space, developed for 1,3 million $, is entirely devoted to
this project.
This 10 million $ contract entrusted by Therma Blade to IPL will generate
the creation of more than forty jobs for the manufacturer of molded plastic
products at its Saint-Damien installations in Bellechasse. The work cell will
function 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"The fabrication of this heated hockey skate blade, which constitutes a
remarkable innovation in the hockey world, sits perfectly with the spirit of
innovation that IPL has shown throughout time", declared Mr. Bragdon,
reminding us that it is the company he presides over that, amongst other
things, created and marketed the first plastic soft drink crates and the
famous Krazy Carpets.
Therma Blade will begin supplying retailers in limited quantities in the
following days.

    A revolutionary technology

Invented by Tory Weber, an Albertan, this hockey skate blade receives
Wayne Gretzky's approval, and is currently being tested by players from the
National Hockey League (NHL).
"Therma Blade uses state-of-the-art technology allowing each blade to
slightly heat the hockey skate blade thanks to electric energy which is
supplied by a battery", explained the inventor of this blade, adding that the
heat transfer allows the increase of the layer of water between the blade and
the ice transfer surface, thereby reducing the friction between the blade and
ice surface.
The new technology offers many proven physiological and performance
benefits for hockey players, including a dramatic reduction in gliding
friction and starting resistance, an overall increase in stamina and an
overall decrease in fatigue.
