VANCOUVER, May 6 /CNW/ - This isn't your grandparents' accordion. No
longer sidelined to Polkas and Parisian sidewalks, the accordion takes center
stage with the launch of the 3rd Roland V-Accordion Festival, dubbed
"V-Accordion Idol", a national, Canadian accordion performance competition.
The launch of the contest marks "World Accordion Day" - a world-wide
celebration of the instrument. It also marks a resurgence of interest in the
accordion. The Roland V-Accordion - the world's first digital accordion - has
been at the forefront of this growing buzz.
From appearances on pop artists' concert stages, to growing international
sales, excitement about the V-Accordion, and the creative possibilities it
opens, has been steadily building within the accordion community and beyond.
The Roland V-Accordion Festival has tapped into this growing interest and
allowed accordion players to showcase their talents on a national and
international level as well as compete for amazing Roland V-Accordion prizes.
The V-Accordion Festival invites players to send in a two- to five-minute
video of their best accordion performance (performances on any accordion -
acoustic or digital - of any make are welcome) to Roland Canada to be
evaluated by a panel of judges. The top three entrants will be invited to
compete at the National Finals in Toronto where they will compete live for
fantastic prizes, including the grand-prize: a top-of-the-line Roland FR-7
V-Accordion (Value: $7,729.00) and an all-expenses-paid trip to Rome, Italy
for the International Finals.
