Wireless Developers to Have Their Day

Ericsson to host North American event in Montreal to help wireless
    developers sell their wares

MONTREAL, Sept. 20 /CNW/ - In a move to help North American developers
deliver their cutting-edge applications to global telecommunications networks,
Ericsson Canada will host a one day developers' event in Montreal on
September 26. The event, part of the Ericsson Mobility World Developer
Program, is designed to help developers successfully plan, develop, verify and
market applications that can be delivered to operators and end users around
the world.
Marc LeClerc, Manager, Mobility World Global IMS Expert Centre, says:
"Third-party developers are critical to the success of the wireless industry
since they create many customer-facing applications. By helping them navigate
technical and business issues early in the development cycle, we can reduce
their time to market. Furthermore, through the Ericsson developer program,
developers' applications and content can be included in the Ericsson Mobility
World application portfolio, which we present to our customers around the
With more than one hundred years of telecom business experience, Ericsson
offers the technical, business, and sales support that developers need to
transform ideas into reality.
The Montreal Developers Day will touch on all aspects of wireless
application development, with a particular focus on IMS applications. Last May
the Ericsson Mobility World Developer Program launched its IMS developer
support. Ericsson's IMS expert centers are located in Montreal, Madrid, and
Sao Paulo.
IMS, or internet protocol multimedia subsystem, is a framework for
delivering multimedia services, such as interactive gaming, to mobile users.
The goal of IMS is to have all forms of communication (voice, video, data,
instant messaging) move about as internet packets that can be sent instantly
across networks with the push of a button.
LeClerc continued: "Packaging information so it can travel over an IP
network makes it device-agnostic. That means photos shot on a cell phone at a
construction site in Dubai can be transmitted instantly to a business
application on a manager's laptop half way around the world."
The presentations will focus on both current and leading-edge technology,
and will feature information on the tools and resources available for the
creation and verification of wireless applications. Developers also will have
the opportunity to discuss the latest trends, network with fellow developers,
and meet representatives from Ericsson's industry partners.
More than 50 wireless developers from across North America are expected
to attend the event. Ericsson hosts approximately 10 Mobility World Developer
Days worldwide each year.
