What would you do if you had 72 hours to change your life? Canadians seize the moment in Phil Keoghan's NO OPPORTUNITY WASTED premiering Oct. 3 at 8:30 p.m. on CBC-TV

    TORONTO, Aug. 29 /CNW/ - A Winnipeg housewife and a veteran firefighter
confront their terror of heights by repelling down the world's second largest
granite rock face. After surviving a vicious shark attack that made
international headlines, a Vancouver man faces his worst fears by diving into
shark-infested water. A mother travels to Africa to fulfil her daughter's
dying wish. These challengers from across Canada share a common goal: to think
big, get past procrastination, ditch the excuses and live life NOW.
Hand-picked from more than 7,000 applicants, their dramatic and emotional
transformations unfold on NO OPPORTUNITY WASTED (NOW), premiering Wednesday,
October 3 at 8:30 p.m. on CBC Television.
Based on the personal life philosophy and best-selling book by The
Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan, NO OPPORTUNITY WASTED is a Canadian-produced
10-episode, half-hour series. After completing a nation-wide search in May,
the producers chose Canadian adventurer Bruce Kirkby to guide the participants
through each challenge. No stranger to living on the edge, Kirkby is an
adventurer, photographer, author and motivational speaker and he exemplifies
what it is to live a NOW life. His travels have taken him to Tibet, Bhutan,
the Galapagos Islands, Borneo, Myanmar, Sikkim, Ecuador, and Mongolia to name
just a few. He has published two books on his adventures and his photography
can be seen in magazines around the world including National Geographic.
In each episode, Kirkby ambushes two unsuspecting applicants and asks
them to take on a NOW challenge. With their schedules cleared and all excuses
eliminated, the challengers, total strangers with a common goal, must work
step-by-step to accomplish a series of "time targets" that will push them to
the extreme and help them complete their ultimate challenge.
"The overwhelming response to NOW's call for applications clearly
indicates that Canadians want to ditch the excuses and break free of what's
holding them back," said Kirstine Layfield, CBC executive director of network
programming. "CBC Television has tapped into a concept that will engage
viewers and inspire their everyday lives."
Canadians have embraced Keoghan's NOW philosophy, creating a movement
across the country. From Facebook groups to grassroots initiatives, Canadians
are choosing to live their lives NOW.
The NO OPPORTUNITY WASTED concept was created by Phil Keoghan. Phil
Keoghan, Louise Keoghan and Morgan Elliott are executive producers. Presented
by Rogers, NO OPPORTUNITY WASTED is produced by NOW Canada Productions Inc., a
Suddenly SeeMore... Productions Company. For more details, viewers can log on
