    -- Astral Media Outdoor unveils finalists in second annual "My Toronto"
    Design Competition and invites Torontonians to cast their vote --

    TORONTO, April 10 /CNW/ - What does Toronto mean to you? That's the
question Astral Media Outdoor asked Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD)
students to answer by creating outdoor artwork that captures their vision of
their ideal Toronto. Starting today, Astral Media Outdoor invites Torontonians
to select their favourite student-designed outdoor advertisement by voting
online at www.mytorontois.com in the second annual "My Toronto" Design
Competition. Once the votes are tallied, the winning outdoor artwork will be
placed on 20 billboards across the GTA for the month of May.

creative work is excellent but it's their passion, pride and excitement about
living in Toronto that makes this such a rewarding experience," said Luc

Toronto" Design Competition is the perfect exercise to illustrate how outdoor
advertising has a unique power to engage people in their communities and build
appreciation of Toronto."

    My Toronto is...

    The Astral Media Outdoor "My Toronto" Design Competition, in partnership
with the Ontario College of Art & Design, provides third-year advertising
students with an opportunity to express their views of the city through
original outdoor advertisements. The students were challenged to work with the
theme "My Toronto is..." with the goal of creating impactful and inspirational
messages of the city and community in which they live.
    "The faculty and students were thrilled to participate again this year in
the second annual Astral Media Outdoor "My Toronto" Design Competition," said
Dr. Anthony Cahalan, Dean, Faculty Design, OCAD. "This competition gives the
designers of tomorrow the opportunity to showcase their talents to the city
they love and are passionate about. I commend Astral Media Outdoor for
providing not only the students with the opportunity to express their views of
Toronto, but for engaging the residents of the city as well."

    Residents of Toronto decide!

    From April 10 through to the end of the month, Torontonians are invited
to vote online at www.mytorontois.com for one of the top four finalists that
best illustrates their ideal city. Residents of Toronto will be able to review
the top four ads in detail and read the rationale behind each creation before
voting. The four finalists were selected by a jury made up of representatives
of Astral Media Outdoor, OCAD, the Toronto Association of Business Improvement
Areas, Kramer Design Associates and leading creative directors from Downtown
Partners and GWP Brand Engineering. Please visit the website for more

    The winning advertisement will be announced at an unveiling event in May
and the winning team will receive a cash prize of $3,000 and a $2,000 donation
to the charity of their choice. A $3,000 donation will be made to a workshop
or speaker series that benefits OCAD advertising students. In addition, the
winning artwork will be featured on 20 billboards across the GTA in May. The
three remaining finalists will each receive a cash prize of $500.
