Western Christian College Appoints New Academic Dean

REGINA, June 9 /CNW/ - The board of directors and administration of
Western Christian College is pleased to announce the appointment of Bill
Schwartz as Academic Dean of the Regina-based high school and college.
A native of Edmonton, Schwartz returns to western Canada after pursuing a
professional and academic career in Ontario.
The holder of several degrees Schwartz is currently completing his Doctor
of Theology (Th. D) at the University of St. Michael's College at the
University of Toronto.
"We are thrilled we could attract someone of Bill's caliber to our
school," said WCC president Kevin Vance. "His background will add
significantly to our team's ability to deliver on our strategic objectives of
providing a high quality educational experience for our students while
reaching out to our community."
Schwartz is recognized in academic circles for his research and academic
work in the area of Pastoral Counseling and Ministry Formation. In particular,
he has studied extensively on the relationship between Clergy and
Congregational Health, Pastoral Care and Counseling.
"While I am pleased to be returning to the West, it was Western
Christian's focus on optimizing educational opportunities for students coupled
with an active out-reach program dedicated to helping the less fortunate in
our community that made this opportunity so attractive," said Schwartz in
accepting his new position. "I was particularly impressed with the way Western
Christian delivers on its motto of Changing Lives One Student at a Time. What
I discovered at Western was that this is not just a saying but a lifestyle.
The faculty and staff at Western actually believe they can change lives."
Schwartz assumed his new duties this week.

Western Christian College was founded in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and
relocated to Dauphin, Manitoba before moving to its current home in Regina.
The school offers a quality high school and college academic experience in a
caring Christian environment. The college's REACH program also affords under
privileged young people in Regina's inner city opportunities to pursue
completion of a high school diploma.
