Wendy's joins forces with the Kidney Foundation of Canada to heat up awareness around Kidney Health Month

OTTAWA, March 1 /CNW/ - A delicious bowl of chili can do more than keep
you warm this March. 25 cents from every order of Wendy's chili purchased
during the month of March will go directly to the Kidney Foundation of Canada
as part of Wendy's Great Chili promotion. Wendy's locations in Ottawa are
participating as well as Wendy's locations across Atlantic Canada.
"Wendy's does great work in communities across Canada touching so many
different groups of people. When we approached them about this partnership
they were really excited to work with us," says Pam Logan,
Communications/Community Development Manager, Kidney Foundation of Canada,
Eastern Ontario Branch. "Raising awareness for the foundation is so important,
and the timing of the Wendy's campaign couldn't be better as March is Kidney
Health Month."
Recently Wendy's piloted the program on a smaller scale in select cities
across Canada. "We were impressed with the regional results and are very
excited to bring this program to Ottawa," says Stephen Murphy, Ottawa Wendy's
Franchisee. "Too many Canadians are suffering from kidney failure requiring
treatments or a transplant. It is our hope that Wendy's Great Chili promotion
will be able to raise awareness and funds to help those suffering from this
debilitating disease."
Currently 30,000 Canadians suffer from kidney failure and require
dialysis or a transplant to stay alive. Millions more have related conditions
such as diabetes and high blood pressure, which are leading causes of Kidney
failure. Since 1964, the Kidney Foundation has awarded more than $77 million
to support kidney-related research.
