Welcome to Planet Bran Van 3000! - This Saturday, June 14 in Toronto

MONTREAL, June 12 /CNW Telbec/ - North by Northeast Music and Film
Festival (NXNE) presents the Bran Van 3000 North American premiere! This
absolutely must-see event will be held this Saturday, June 14, 9 p.m. in
Toronto's Dundas Square. A decade after hitting it big and owning the summer
of 1997 with Drinking in LA, the famed Montreal electronica collective founded
by DJ James Di Salvio is back and badder than ever, with an exciting new album
drawing on their signature combo of ironic raps, found sounds and funky
BV3K is ready to celebrate in high style with an evening of technicolour
dance-mad musical pleasure. After absorbing and transforming rock, disco,
dance, electro and R&B, they continue their musical evolution, bringing reggae
grooves in their gorgeous latest release, Rosé.
James Di Salvio likes to say he's had no formal musical training... but
you'd never know it from the way he schooled the dance world! With Glee
(1998), Discosis (2001) and Rosé (2007), Di Salvio and bandmates Sara
Johnston, Stéphane Moraille, Steve "Liquid" Hawley, Rob Joanisse, Nick Hynes,
Gary McKenzie and Jayne Hill stamped the Bran Van 3000 groove on listeners
around the world. But to truly understand this band-or rather, collective-they
must be seen live in concert - because Bran Van 3000 redefines the very
meaning of party! You've been warned: the entertainment knob goes up to "11"
at this bash!
On Tuesday, July 1, at 9:30 p.m., Bran Van 3000 will also host the
Evénement special Bell, one of the three big free outdoor special events at
the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. This 29th edition invites all
Montrealers and visitors to a massive block party at the mid-point of the
11-day event. And when this band flips on the party lights, you know people
will be talking about it until the season ends! The 29th edition of the
Festival International de Jazz de Montréal runs from June 26 to July 6, 2008.
