We Care Victoria Personal Monitoring and Emergency Response Service Launched For People Who Live Alone; Fills the Gap Left by Other Personal Emergency Response Services

    VICTORIA, BC, Oct. 30 /CNW/ - The We Care Home Health Services Victoria
branch ("We Care Victoria") is pleased to announce the launch of its
WE-TELECARE personal monitoring and emergency response service for people who
live alone in the Greater Victoria Area. WE-TELECARE is a subscription-based,
telephone check-in and personal emergency response service designed to support
independent living and elder care. The service includes regularly scheduled,
automated telephone calls to people who live alone, to confirm that they are
alright and do not need immediate assistance. If the recipient of the call
does not acknowledge the check-in call, a protocol for contacting a designated
responsible person who can check on the client, or arrange emergency
attendance, is set in motion. "A significant difference," said Richard Allen,
Director of We Care Victoria, "when compared to other monitoring and emergency
response services is that the WE-TELECARE service will initiate a response
protocol for situations when the monitored person is unconscious or
disoriented. Additionally, no special equipment is required as the service
requires only the use of a client's existing telephone." He also noted that
the client is not required to wear a pendant or bracelet, that there are no
sign up or installation charges for the service, and that the current price
for new clients is $18.50 per month to receive a potentially life-saving daily
check-in call.

    We Care Victoria is a locally owned We Care Home Health Services branch
which has been serving the Greater Victoria Area since 1993. With a staff
comprised of seventy professional and non-professional employees, We Care
Victoria provides a full range of home care and occupational health services
to the community.
